The Mobility Cup 2023 Committee has finalized plans for accessible transportation of sailors and their required companions during the upcoming Mobility Cup regatta in Toronto.
Procedure
- Accessibility transportation needs are coordinated through Candice Drescher (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) leading up to and for the duration of MC2023. All sailors and other registrants with accessible transportation needs must be registered with the City of Toronto’s TTC Wheel-Trans bus service. This will allow you to use the bus service with up to one companion per trip. Candice will assist you with the registration process at TTC Wheel-Trans once you have contacted her.
- To register with Wheel-Trans, you will need to provide the following information:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Home mailing address
- Address in Toronto
- Phone number
- Mobility device used
- Mobility device dimensions
- Arrival in Toronto date and time
- Departure from Toronto date and time
- Once you have completed the registration process you are required to have your home city para-transport service send an email to Wheel-Trans at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with a confirmation that you receive services from them. Once Wheel-Trans has received this they will send you an ID number. Once you receive your ID number please forward it to Candice.
- TTC Wheel-Trans will service any hotel or other accommodation within the City of Toronto for $3.20/person/trip. Attendants will be free of charge.
- Despite our best efforts we cannot get an overall contract with Wheel-Trans to cover the regatta. Therefore, we will be compensating regatta users for their costs to use the Wheel-Trans service at the end of the regatta once registrants let us know their final outlay.
- You are strongly encouraged to prearrange your pick-up with Wheel-Trans prior to arriving at either Toronto Pearson International Airport, or Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Please allow 45-60 minutes depending on the time of day.
- Wheel-Trans offers accessible transit at Pearson Airport. Pick-up and drop-off is at the inner curb of the following locations. Note: “Post” numbers are displayed at the top of the columns that run across the curbs.
Terminal 1: Arrivals Level 1 Door E (Between E1 and E3)
Terminal 1: Departures Level 3 Posts 9, 21, and 37
Terminal 3: Departure Level for both arrival and departures Level 1 Post 19 and 29 - For arrivals at Billy Bishop Airport, Wheel-Trans will meet you outside of the Mainland Pavilion.
At both airports, you may request travel assistance through your airline at least 48 hours prior to your departure.
If you are staying at the Sheraton or Delta Chelsea hotels, Candice will provide you with your pick-up times for each day of the regatta. Please provide Candice with the times that you would like to return to the hotel. If you are booking your own transportation, please allow at least 60 minutes from the time of scheduled pick-up to the estimated arrival time at your destination. We will try and coordinate sailors who are staying at the same hotel. - Casual bookings can be made by 5:00pm the previous day by phoning Wheel-Trans. Same-day bookings are discouraged as they are not guaranteed and may incur additional wait times.
Additional information about booking, pickup, and cancelling trips with TTC Wheel-Trans can be found at http://www.ttc.ca wheel-trans or by phone at 416-393-4222.
All relevant phone numbers and contacts will be sent to you before your departure for Toronto and will be included on your registration ID Tag for easy reference.
Candice or one of her team will help you coordinate your transportation needs from the MC2023 registration desk during the regatta.
The MC2023 committee will arrange transportation to the Opening Ceremonies, BBQ and Banquet Dinner and back to your accommodations. Maximum size of mobility devices Wheel Trans buses can accommodate:
- Wheelchairs up to 31 inches (78.74cm) wide by 60 inches long and must weigh less than 800lbs (customer and device)
