Welcome to Unama’ki/Cape Breton
Welcome Sailors, Volunteers, Coaches, Officials, and Spectators,
On behalf of the Northern Yacht Club, and our Title Sponsor, Rotary Club of North Sydney, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Mobility Cup 2022.
This regatta promises to be rooted in a strong race series as well as in the rich cultural fabric of our special island. Late August is one of the best times to visit Cape Breton and to race on Sydney Harbour. With temperatures averaging about 20 degrees Celsius and prevailing winds from the southwest at about 10-15 knots, sailors will experience some exciting competition during the day and some foot-stomping entertainment each evening.
Our committed and dedicated Host Organizing Committee is ready and excited to make this event the best Mobility Cup Regatta to date. We want all involved, whether you are a competing sailor, a coach, an official, a volunteer, or a spectator, to experience our Cape Breton hospitality that will include great food, wonderful music, and a unique cultural experience.
As an island community, Cape Breton continuously strives to be the number one destination for travel and tourism in Canada and globally. Along with its ability to host large-scale conferences and major events, Cape Breton lives up to its hospitable reputation in welcoming the world to enjoy the relaxing and one-of-a-kind experience that only our island can provide.
After two and a half years of isolation and restricted travel due to the global pandemic, I am certain that many of you are more than ready to enjoy the comradery and goodwill associated with coming together in friendly competition.
Northern Yacht Club and Cape Breton are ready to host this incredible event, and we hope to see you at Mobility Cup 2022.
Céad míle fáilte!
Sincerely,
John Astephen
