Alex is a certified Sail Canada Coach and Master Learning Facilitator and has worked with Westwood Sailing Club in the Toronto Outer harbour for the last 15 years.
Alex started sailing in the year 2000 with Cadets Canada, became and instructor in 2003, and began certifying sailing coaches in 2014 when he became a learning facilitator. He is heavily involved in the sailing scene in both Canada and the United States through various racing fleets, coaching opportunities, and national committees. Alex’s teaching philosophy centres around gaining a confident command of the fundamental movements of sailing so students can get out on the water and experience the “silent rush of power” with pleasure. Outside of teaching at the club, you might find Alex tending to the fire pit or sailing his F18 catamaran, favoured for its power and the athleticism needed to sail it.
