Mobility Cup 2020 Update April 6, 2020

Dear friends and supporters:

We are disappointed to announce that Mobility Cup 2020 hosted by Able Sail Toronto and National Yacht Club that was scheduled for August 30 to September 3, 2020 will now be moved forward to 2021. Due to the current circumstances related to COVID-19, the health and well-being of our sailors is paramount.

The Mobility Cup chairs and the Able Sail Network of Canada board have been monitoring and discussing for the last few weeks various scenarios and the decision was finally made.

We have already begun to plan the festivities for next year, and we will keep you updated over the coming months. We promise you that it will be an awesome Mobility Cup!

Volunteers and Committees

Any work and time that has been put in so far is not lost, and we will continue the online sessions and instructional documentation.

Sailors

Those that have already registered, your registration fees will be refunded to you; give us a few days to get that organized.

Hotel Reservations

Some volunteers and some sailors had already done their hotel bookings. Both host hotels have been notified; they have been very understanding and will work with you for the cancellation of your bookings. There is no penalty and no charges. The host hotels understand that the event will continue and so we will be changing the contracts and date on the booking system once that has been confirmed with National Yacht Club.

Thank you so much for your understanding.

For your enjoyment, musician and pianist David Johanns has been entertaining us all on Facebook LIVE every evening from 8-10pm EST. Links to these sessions are posted daily on the Mobility Cup Group as well as the Able Sail Toronto Group. If you haven’t joined already please do so. Thanks again, be safe, and keep practicing the social distancing, it is working!

Mobility Cup 2020 Update March 17, 2020

In light of coronavirus we want to inform you that Mobility Cup 2020 is still in full force and moving forward; as it is over 5 months from now we feel that it is enough time for us all to regain stability.

The dates for Mobility Cup 2020 are August 30 to September 3rd. Sailors and Volunteer Registration is open and is fully refundable until August 1 if you choose to cancel. The hotel bookings can also be cancelled if you need to, at no charge.

We are working hard with plans to make your experience fantastic and fulfilling. Then we will enjoy the freedom of sailing and together we will laugh and rejoice as we play in the wind, water and waves.

In the meantime, we wanted to share with you an Irish blessing for St. Patrick's Day - “May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.”
May you and your loved ones stay well and healthy.

Land Acknowledgement

Mobility Cup 2021 would like to acknowledge that the land on which our regatta will take place is located is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, the Métis, and most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation. The territory was the subject of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy and the Ojibwe and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes.

This territory is also covered by the Upper Canada Treaties.

Today, the meeting place of Toronto (from the Haudenosaunee word Tkaronto) is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to base our regatta in this territory.
